A Saturday like a champion thanks to “Sei di Pordenone Se …. Vivi l’Italian Baja!! (You are from Pordenone if…..you live the Italian Baja!)”
He will be 60 years old next Autumn, but his career is a never-ending Summer. It deals on Franco Picco, the highlander from Vicenza, as for off road, tout terrain, cross country rally. His enthusiasm shows a young soul, which still looks forward to riding a bike again, to facing adventure, through the wide African Dakar, the South American twin race (totally 24 participations) or even that one more restricted and intimated represented by the Italian Baja.
He came to challenge the Cellina – Meduna riverbeds during the first “test” edition in 1993, won by Edi Orioli, another Dakar authentic champion, when thirteen (13!) participants were lined up at the starting line. The broken engine of his Suzuki Vitara wasn’t able to compete with the Mercedes Ml driven by his great challenger. Picco comes back now in Pordenone, where he will be looking for emotions to properly celebrate his 60th birthday.
The stony “grave” of the Meduna, Cosa and Tagliamento rivers will inspire him to face in January the hardest challenge contended between Chile and Argentina. Whoever would like to personally get to know him, share a selfie with him, get an autograph, will be the welcome at the Pordenone Fair at 7pm to take part in the “Saturday of the Champions” happening; here by the Pavilion nr. 5 we will meet Picco together with Miki Biasion, Nasser Al-Attiyah, Jean Louis Schlesser and Alessandro Ruoso.
