The opening Super Special stage will be faced today between Zoppola and Cordenons - In the evening the show in Lignano Pineta with live coverage on Telepordenone.
This is a magic day for everyone, the Summer solstice, the day of maximum light in the northern hemisphere and the beginning of the warm season. The Italian Baja weekend starts today, the fiery challenge along the Meduna, Cosa and Tagliamento riverbeds, valid for the FIA World Cup for Cross Country Bajas and for the Cross Country Italian Championship. The Pordenone Fair hosts in the morning last scrutineering and administrative check, while the Smart Arena in San Martino al Tagliamento will frame the “shake-down” (test for participant vehicles, from 10am to 1pm). In the afternoon the pilots press conference at the Fair (2.30pm), the briefing with the clerk of the course (4.30pm) and the official start (5.30pm) with transfer to Zoppola through the Cimpello-Sequals.
SPECIAL STAGE. Rulesdefine assuper special stage the first selective part, this year intitled “Murlis” and 12,50 km long, with start for the first competitor at 6.30pm. A fast straight track along the Meduna riverbank near Zoppola, at the maximum acceleration speed, then a plunge into the riverbed facing holes, jumps, bushes, fords and other several tricks. Out of the riverbed to climb on the bank near Cordenons, until the end of the stage not far from the ancient camp for heliotherapy. Return to the Fair for all vehicles and “maquillage” at the assistance before to start again and reach the sea.
STARTING GRID POSITIONS. The showwill take place in the evening in front of the Tenda Bar, in Lignano Pineta, to present the race also thanks to a maxi screen and live coverage on Telepordenone. At 9.45pm the ceremony for the starting grid positions as for tomorrow’s first Leg. That’s to say, the first ten placed challengers after “Murlis” will be invited to choose the starting order (last one will be the first to make his choice), considering all advantages in starting ahead all other competitors or, on the contrary, in following the traces of other drivers. Anyway, the presentation of the Italian Baja on the Summer beach confirmed the tourist partnership between Pordenone and Lignano Sabbiadoro.
KUBA CHASED BY RIVALS.
