Virtual podium with Borsoi and Montico in great shape. Bordonaro at the head of T2, Lolli only fourth with a 6 'penalty
All very serious at "Valvadrom" for the Italian Baja in Autumn, the final round of the Italian Cross Country Rally Championship. Despite the tactical intentions of the eve, the big names stepped on the accelerator giving thrills and spectacle to fans on a sunny day and mild temperatures.
Free from worries of the Italian classification, Elvis Borsoi (Toyota Toyodell) took on the role of the "hare" by signing the best time in the first morning lap (18.60 km) in 15'45 '', with Angelo Montico (Yamaha Quaddy) second at 27 '' and Lorenzo Codecà (Suzuki Grand Vitara) third at 49 ''.
On the spot, the reigning champion has definitely changed pace in the second selective sector consisting of a double lap of the "Valvadrom": 31'08 '' his staff with Borsoi at 19 '' and Montico at 22 '', leaving unchanged the virtual mid-day podium. Finally, in the third and final sector he completed his recovery by stopping the clock at 30'24 '', with Montico at 45 '' and Borsoi at 46 '', although all three slowed down (but Borsoi seems a little more) by the others. competitors on the track since in the second of the two passes it was fatal to find those who started behind on the track.
First stage then with Codecà sailed by Bruno Fedullo in command with a total time of 1h18'06 '', followed by Borsoi and Paolo Manfredini at 16 '', Montico and Davide Rigoletto at 1'31 ''. Fourth position reserved for Andrea Tomasini and Mauro Toffoli on the Peugeot prototype. A decidedly uphill race for Andrea Lolli who put his leadership in T2 at risk. A 6 'penalty, remedied for the advance to the restart control after the first selective sector, punished the performance of the Modenese, fourth at the end of the stage in the Group ranking after Alfio Bordonaro, Mauro Cantarello and Andrea Alfano (all on Suzuki Grand Vitara).
A ranking that would assign the “production” championship to Bordonaro. Today the race will be characterized by the selective "Mosole" sector, identical to yesterday's track but in the opposite direction. Two consecutive laps starting at 9:30 and a final lap at 11:30. Awards ceremony in Piazza Castello in Valvasone (1 pm).
