Great emotions and entertainment for an Italian Baja di Primavera which excited everyone starting from the rally drivers for a truly convincing experiment. The “Giulia Maroni ” trophy to Elisa Tassile in the name of many poignant memories.
Pordenone, 17 March 2024_ Sports triumphs and a moment of intense emotion . Yesterday on the arrival stage of the 14th . Italian Baja di Primavera - Artugna Race the “Giulia Maroni” trophy was awarded to Elisa Tassile , an ideal embrace between the recently deceased navigator and the one who won the Side by Side Vehicles race alongside Andrea Castagnera on Can Am Mavericks.
THE FINISH. Then the awards ceremony sealed the conclusion of a challenge much appreciated by all the competitors. Starting with the rally drivers competing for the first time, a successful experiment and a harbinger of further developments because here, in the off-road context, they enjoyed a track of over 27 km for a total route of over 81 km. Something that never happens again in "normal" rallies and should therefore open the doors to greater participation in the immediate future, with a view to the Italian Baja International in July. For the record, success for Andrea De Luna in 57'02''7 ahead of Alberto Carniello 1'07''9 behind and Roberto Camporese at 3'33''4 with a Volkswagen Polo N5 against the three Skoda Fabia R5s , including that of Alessandro Prosdocimo, who was delayed in the queue due to two punctures.
SIDE BY SIDE. As mentioned, Castagnera prevailed among the light tubulars with a total of 1:21'47''6, after Federico Buttò's initial outburst. The dentist from Pordenone suffered especially in the second lap, giving up the lead to his direct rival from Group T3, while Fabrizio Pietranera's prices rose with a Can Am TM. In the third and fourth sectors, Castagnera left no space, marking the gap on Buttò who was still second at 52''5 in total, Pietranera third at 3'19''0. This time the Yamaha Yxz 1000Rs didn't shine, but Michele Manocchi with his daughter Giada took fourth place ahead of Alessandro Bonetto who was burdened by a heavy penalty.
CROSS COUNTRY BAJA. Manuele Mengozzi was undoubtedly good at repeating himself on the top step of the Artugna podium , repeating last year's victory with a total of 1:21'28''9. But the My Racing Autosport Toyota Hilux proved to have an edge over its rivals, a true show of strength on a compact track that enhances its speed capabilities. The driver from Emilia immediately took the lead and did not relinquish it even at the end, leaving the honor of the last scratch to the champion Lorenzo Codecà (Suzuki Grand Vitara), while the duel for second place was resolved with the overtaking by Andrea Schiumarini ( Mitsubishi L200) on the reigning two-champion Alfio Bordonaro (Suzuki Grand Vitara), separated in the end by just 5''.
