14ma Italian Baja di Primavera Artugna Race

Artugna Race, stab of rally cars

Pordenone, 16 March 2024_

SS2 - TR. They are an experiment outside the Italian classification and are racing for the new Trofeo d'Italia TR. Let's talk about the R5/N5 version rally cars that are making their first appearance at the Italian Baja di Primavera to see how it goes, hoping to soon expand participation to off-road. The Artugna Race route is particularly suited to their characteristics. After all, on the narrow streets of the Pordenone foothills, between Aviano and Budoia, Fontanafredda and Polcenigo, the Piancavallo Rally of yesteryear raged and then the Avianorally which has engraved so many beautiful memories in the memory of enthusiasts. A long preamble to reveal how quickly they went straight into SS2 after completing SS1 as a transfer reconnaissance lap to take notes. Best overall time by Andrea De Luna in 19'25''7, taking a minute off the SSV's time. The Skoda Fabia driven by the "gardener" trailed the rival driven by Alberto Carniello by 21'', a deep but not excessive margin in a "special" of almost 28 km. Roberto Camporese's Volkswagen Polo, a production car and therefore with inferior horsepower, is 1'11'' behind. It's a shame for Alessandro Prosdocimo, forced to trudge along with a long delay due to a puncture and wheel replacement.

SS2 – CCB. Mengozzi finishes low and clocks in at 20'25'', Schiumarini with the Mitsubishi L200 R Team is second in the partial at 37'', Bordonaro at 42'', Codecà at 59'' and the others well over one minute. The vehicles return to the Interporto for assistance and it will be a panacea for treating wounds. Ko Borsoi flew "off-road", the Mini All4 Racing a wild horse difficult to tame. In T2 this time Sabellico does better in 22'07'', but Stella also improves with her 22'18'', 11'' behind and still leading the group. Third sly Spinetti with 39'' to recover from the summit. Filippo Andreetto stops and changes the leader of TH. Best time by Allegranzi in 23''33, Luciano Andreetto at 8'' and Gazzetta at 22''. Allegranzi in the lead ahead of Debbi by 58'' and Moro at 1'06''.

SS2 – SSV. Surprise leap from Pietranera in 21'12'' ahead of Castagnera who gives up 11'' and Manocchi at 12'' who holds the Yamaha banner high. Second indigestible pass for Buttò at 34'', but he holds on second at 18'' and everything is still to be played for after half the race.
