Italian Baja 2021, a "double" race maybe decisive for the shield of Ccr and Ssv
The increased coefficient of the two stages will determine an acceleration in the Italian rankings. Galletti (Toyota) and Borsoi (Can-Am) favorites.
Pordenone, 31 August st 2021_ The Italian Baja, which comes back after a year of absence due to Covid, will put together again the Bajas World Cup, the Italian Cross Country Rally Championship and the Italian Ssv Baja Sprint Championship, in a single container of wheels, but with separate rankings. At stake for each of the two tricolors there are 125 points in total, thanks to the coefficient 3 of the first leg on Friday 10 th September and the second one on Saturday 11th. It is therefore logical to expect a strong acceleration towards the title by the major candidates, in a theater of competition always very difficult and selective as the shores of Meduna, Cosa and Tagliamento.
CICCR. The Italian driver Sergio Galletti (Toyota Hilux Overdrive) leads with 175 points ahead of the reigning champion Lorenzo Codecà (Suzuki New Grand Vitara) with 102 points and the Piedmontese Andrea Alfano (Nissan Pathfinder Proto) with 80 points. Galletti got off to a great start by winning the Artugna Race in March and capitalized on the unprecedented trip to Greece in June valid for the Italian championship, where Codecà was absent. The season ends in October with the Cross Country Rally Roma-Douz (Morocco).
SSV. Similar situation among the "light tubulars" or "spiders" as they are often defined. In the lead is Elvis Borsoi (Can-Am Maverick) with 218 points followed by Alessandro Tinaburri at 152 and Valentino Rocco at 132 (both on Quaddy Yamaha). The former 2017 Ccr champion, first at Vermentino and then at San Marino, is having a lot of fun in the new dimension, exploring improvements that will also come in handy in case he might try again at the Dakar. Last call after the Italian Baja will be at the Liburna Cross Country in November.
