It is a matter of motor tastes, but someone likes giant, exaggerated, colossal motors.
It deals on the vehicles which take the off-road cars to the Italian Baja, already big vehicles themselves. Some of them came here on Monday, others arrived yesterday, today the Fair will close the ring for the race which will be contended from Friday to Sunday, hoping participants won’t loose direction joining the ring or even passing in front of the Hotel Moderno as it happened last year, when urban traffic was complicated at the sunrise by a Russian Kamaz vainly trying to park. This is also part of the show offered by the race since 1994 and allowing Pordenone to be part of the universe of the Tour Terrain World Cup, recalled FIA Cross Country Rally.
Tomorrow and on Friday, it will be the turn of bikes and quads taking part in the Fim Bajas World Cup, in a brighter and more self-managed version. Many campers and few motor-homes, as bikers for this agonistic latitude prefer to travel in a lighter and cheaper way. The common denominator: passion for adventure, which at the Italian Baja means to face fords and woops (natural and irregular bumps created by the water push on stones and gravel) spread along the stream beds of the Cosa torrent and the Meduna and Tagliamento river.
CARS. There are 55 entries as for the FIA competition, 20 the Italian ones with the driver from Milan Lorenzo Codecà, who starts again his personal battle for gaining the Italian victory with a Grand Vitara V6 of Suzuki Italia. Four are the drivers from Pordenone favored in the challenge against foreign big champions: Mauro Vagaggini (Mitsubishi Pajero), Fabrizio Martinis (Isuzu Dmax), Andrea Tomasini (Peugeot Prototipo Gwr) and Federico Crozzolo (Nissan Navara).
BIKES. The young Xavier de Soultrait (Yamaha) stands out, after being the protagonist in Sardinia two weeks ago at the World Cup for Cross Country Rally; he decided to take part also in the Pordenone race, trying to obstacle the favored Vanni Cominotto (Husqvarna). Challengers in the island and now also at the Italian Baja, twith Brice Barbier (second position in 2015 at the World Championship for the specialty) and Loic Minaudier to underline how French bikers are able to risk in this specialty.
