The record number of entries (47) and starting participants (46) got at the Spring Baja in March let us hope there will be a remarkable participation of our drivers at the Italian Baja World Cup from June 14th to 18th.
Comparing their own ability with the one of foreign experts represents an exceptional incentive for the Italian pride, even considering the disparity of vehicles at disposal and the low chance of fighting for the top positions. This year the Italian Championship for Cross Country Rally brilliantly started with a lot of enthusiasm shared by everybody for the project of relaunching defined by Aci Sport.
WHEELS CROSSING. The first race has been won by a surprising Elvis Borsoi (Toyota Toyodell) ahead on the champion in charge Lorenzo Codecà and Andrea Toro (both Suzuki Grand Vitara). Among the derived vehicles (T2), Alfio Bordonaro defeated Andrea Luchini and Giuseppe Ananasso (all of them with Suzuki Grand Vitara). Among vehicles with expired certification (TH), fundamental to revitalize the national event, success by Simone Grossi (Land Rover) ahead on Francesco Ceschin (Daihatsu Rocky) and Gianluca Morra (Mitsubishi Pajero).
CAREFUL BORSOI. “No exaltation. In my opinion – underlines the driver from Conegliano – nothing changed. The Cup still remains a goal for everybody. For sure Codecà will plan an attack and we will try to fight back. No change on Toyodell, but the whole Collodel 4x4 Team will do its best to reach the final line getting a good time. The most important thing is the reliability of the vehicle in such a hard and selective race. I am ready”.
GUTTY CODECA’. “We were waiting for a not easy beginning of Season – underlines the Suzuki driver – as we were not able to properly setup the car before the race of March. We now are working with Emmetre Racing on the setup to improve future performances. The Italian Baja is anyway a race with a lot of tricks and formidable challengers, that’s to say an even bigger incentive to do our best”.
