The "girlfriend" Andrea Mayer is back at the start with a Danisi Dust Devil T3 Light, prelude to a possible return of Stephane Peterhansel. In the meantime, Czech Josef Machacek, a quad bike acrobat, winner of 5 Dakars, joined.
The long wait for the Italian Baja (13/16 March) is enriched with points of interest every day thanks to new members and there are those who inevitably tickle the curiosity of enthusiasts and professionals. The German Andrea Mayer boasts an important personal curriculum, having raced everywhere with motorcycles, cars and even trucks. But, needless to deny it, you do not go unnoticed your "liaison" with Stephane Peterhansel, legend of the Dakar having won eleven editions (6 by motorcycle, 5 by car).
Just like last year, therefore, this time too the formidable Frenchman could arrive in Pordenone following the "morosa", with an intertwining of competition and sentiment in the suggestive scenario of the "grave" between the fords of Meduna and Tagliamento. Frau Mayer will be driving a Danisi Dust Devil, a “dust devil”, a vehicle on an extremely light tubular frame (less than 700 kg), rear-wheel drive and with braking performance and dynamic behavior that can be adapted to all conditions.
For this reason, the T3 Light category is the FIA bet of a class that can race anywhere, primarily the Dakar, expanding, thanks to the reduced costs, the potential number of drivers and teams who can approach off-road racing. Waiting to unravel the Peterhansel enigma, one certainty is the further participation of Josef Machacek with a quad Mosquito Klement. The "no longer young" Czech centaur (born March 13, 1957) remains a point of reference for the category of four-wheeled motorcycles with a palmares of 5 successes in the Dakar and victories at the Italian Baja 2009 and 2010. A demonstration that in the tout terrain challenges, experience and sagacity in tackling pitfalls and pitfalls count more than youthful impetus at full throttle.
