Countdown to the World Cup for Cross Country Rallies, which will take place in Pordenone from Thursday 25th to Sunday 28th June. News about the race: a shake-down and a longer track combining the stony “grave” offered by the Cellina and the Meduna rivers with the Tagliamento and Cosa riverbeds. Start from Spilimbergo and arrival at the Pordenone Fair
Pordenone 27th April, 2015_ FIA organizers made a “climate revolution” dealing with the World Cup for Cross Country Rallies, christening a calendar which distributes races considering seasonal weather conditions. This is why the Italian Baja, after being the “Spring Ouverture” from 1997 to 2014”, henceforward it could be considered as the “Summer Twilight” as it will be disputed from sunrise to sunset during the whole long Summer days of June, this year included between Thursday 25th and Sunday 28th.
Nothing better than this to quietness write the race road map, without worrying about the sunset time to bring all vehicles back to Pordenone before it’s too late. Headlights can be good for orienteering excursions, absolutely not to face high-speed competitions driving riverbanks waysides or stony riverbeds.
The great news regarding 2015 race edition is the shake-down on June 25th, during which participants will test their vehicles along a part of the Tagliamento riverbed near Sedegliano, a village situated on the eastern riverbank. A bit more than 2,5 km covered by a hard track will be faced to check mechanical systems and improve shock-absorbers and suspensions trim.
Some news also regarding the whole track, starting from the Super Special proposed on Friday, June 26th, which always represents a sort of prologue of the race and once more will be a homage to our unforgotten friend Claudio “Caco” Azzaretti, who co-operated with the Fuoristrada Club 4x4 Pordenone since its birth. The challenger who will get the best overall time among cars, bikes and quads, obtained facing the 11,5 km prologue, will gain the Azzaretti Trophy with its promise of never-ending love for the grave soils shared by the territories of Arzene, Zoppola and Cordenons.
On Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th June participants will twice face the same Selective Section over 100 km long (such a long track has been now proposed for the very first time), which joins the Cellina and Meduna grave together with the Cosa and Tagliamento riverbeds, a route which on the second day will be faced in the opposite direction. In fact the start will be given on Saturday from San Lorenzo di Arzene, while challengers will cross the arrival line in Codroipo, after following an itinerary through the towns of San Giorgio della Richinvelda, Spilimbergo, San Martino al Tagliamento, Dignano, Flaibano, Sedegliano and Valvasone. On Sunday participants will therefore start from Codroipo and arrive in San Lorenzo di Arzene. Route’s total length is over 410 km.
Official start on Friday 25th from Piazza Garibaldi in Spilimbergo, passage control by the Rauscedo wine cellar, start of the Super Special Stage near the Bingo house in Zoppola, end of the race by the Colonia area in Cordenons. On Sunday 28th the official arrival at the Pordenone Fair, where the Prize Giving Ceremony will be held at 4:30pm (bikes and quads) and at 6:00pm (cars). The Fair will also host the whole race Head Quarter (race direction, timekeepers, secretaries, parc fermé, press office) framed by collateral events which will offer four days of real motor festival.
