8 female pilots on 71 enrolled crews, a result never reached before, equally divided between Fia Ride and Italian Championship Acisport
Pordenone, 2 July 2022_ Italian Baja’s headquarters are more than satisfied. The enrollments see 71 crew entered, a truly important and meaningful number for the Cross Country speciality, even more important having considered the difficult international situation. Not only, 8 female pilots will compete (with 14 female co-drivers), enchanting the other half of the sky in the four wheels sports dimension, a typically man-only environment.
Before firing up the engines and letting the race choose the winners - with very good predictions for Yazeed Al-Rajhi on a Toyota Hilux Overdrive in terms of Fia World Championship, for Andrea Alfano on a Nissan Pathfinder in the national Acisport e Amerigo Ventura’s double sided ambitions on a Yamaha Quaddy - enchanting this pink revolution seems more than appropriate.
In the Fia race we’ll see Dania Akeel, Mashael Alobaidan and Anja Van Loon on Can-Am Maverick Xrs, with the first two contending the sceptre of first women to obtain a sport licence issued by Saudi Arabia, plus Lina Van De Mars on a Polaris Razor. Racing in the Italian Acisport Shero Rally Team by Iole De Simone, the Neapolitan living in Riad, who became mother to the revolution in the pink revolution by founding an entirely female team in the Kingdom’s capital.
Italian Baja represents the first official race out of the Arabian Peninsula, a test while preparing for Dakar 2023, with De Simone and sisters Alham and Abthal Saleh Aldosimany driving a Polaris Razor. A Toyota Land Cruiser di Gruppo TH, instead, for Polish Magdalena Fajak.
